If you fasten your straps to the top of the garage door frame instead of the bottom you don't have to worry about the blocking so much, it won't fall over. Make sure the bike is in the doorway and pull the straps tight. I use this method to hold the front end and lift the back with an old-fashioned block & tackle fastened to either the sissy bar or the frame, depending what I'm working on. If you don't have a block & tackle, loosen the straps so there's some slack, and use a rope tied to the sissy bar to pull the bike back from the garage door and slightly up, it will lift up off the floor and remain upright.
